Abstract

Online buying was increased tremendously over the years in Malaysia where the gross merchandise value (GMV) for e-commerce have grown 87% (RM62.3 billion) within 2020 to 2021 period. It was clear that the growth happened during Movement Control Order (MCO) period to avoid the spread of the Covid-19 virus. However, after the MCO the price of goods was getting expensive and the youth living cost was at the worrying level. This circumstance may influence the online buying trend among Malaysian youths, especially the youths in Sarawak. Consequently, this study was carried out to investigate the trend of online buying among youths after the MCO and to identify their favourite products in online buying. About 300 questionnaires through (Google form) was distributed to the youths in Sarawak using the simple random technique. Nevertheless, only 154 questionnaires were completed and submitted to the researchers. Data gathered was analysed descriptively through Statistical Packages of Social Science (SPSS). Finally, there were a decline in the online buying trend among youths after the MCO and changes in their preferred products.

Penggunaan pembelian secara atas talian di lihat mengalami peningkatan yang ketara di mana nilai dagangan kasar e-dagang negara yang meningkat sebanyak 87% berjumlah RM62.3 bilion dalam tempoh tahun 2020 ke tahun 2021. Jelas peningkatan berlaku semasa negara melaksanakan Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP) bagi mengekang penularan wabak Covid-19. Namun begitu, setelah tamatnya PKP di negara ini berlaku peningkatan pada harga barang dan kos sara hidup belia pula berada pada tahap yang membimbangkan. Hal ini dapat mempengaruhi pola pembelian secara atas talian bagi belia yang berada di Malaysia terutamanya di Sarawak. Justeru, kajian ini dilakukan bagi mengkaji pola pembelian belia secara atas talian setelah berakhirnya perintah kawalan pergerakan (PKP) di Malaysia dan mengenal pasti produk yang masih digemari oleh belia dalam melakukan pembelian secara atas talian. Sebanyak 300 borang soal selidik secara atas talian (google form) diedarkan secara rawak mudah kepada belia di Sarawak namun hanya 154 borang soal selidik yang telah lengkap dan dikembalikan kepada pengkaji. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan perisian Statistical Packages of Social Science (SPSS) secara deskriptif. Kesimpulannya, berlaku penurunan terhadap pola pembelian secara atas talian dan produk yang dibeli dalam kalangan belia di Sarawak.
