Local Wisdom in Conflict Resolution and Its Contribution to Global Peace
Abstract
This research examines the 'Badamai' custom within Banjar society as local wisdom in conflict resolution. The 'Badamai' custom, a traditional reconciliation practice deeply rooted in Banjar culture, reflects values of deliberation (musyawarah), kinship, and the pursuit of harmony. This study aims to deeply describe the processes, principles, and values embedded in the 'Badamai' custom, as well as analyze its relevance in the context of modern conflict resolution. Furthermore, the research explores the potential of 'Badamai' as an alternative or complementary model to conventional conflict resolution approaches, and examines how its harmonious principles can enrich cross-cultural dialogue. Employing a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with Banjar community members who have experienced the 'Badamai' custom, alongside a literature review, this study is expected to contribute to the understanding of the importance of local wisdom as a source of inspiration for global peace. The findings of this research indicate that the universal values contained within the 'Badamai' custom can enrich the discourse of interfaith and local cultural dialogue, offering unique perspectives in building bridges of understanding and promoting harmonious coexistence amidst global challenges.
