P076 Developing Leadership Competencies Through Classroom Learning Experience
Applying the Brunei Islamic Strategic and Transformational Leadership Model Canvas (Be-ISLAH - TLMC)
Abstract
In a rapidly evolving global workforce, developing essential employment skills such as leadership, teamwork, decision-making, and lifelong learning among students is critical for educational success. This study explores an innovative learning approach undertaken by researchers at Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, Brunei Darussalam, through the implementation of Brunei Islamic Strategic and Transformational Leadership Model Canvas (Be-ISLAH-TLMC), a structured tool designed to foster these competencies in classroom settings. The study employs a quantitative research design to evaluate the effectiveness of Be-ISLAH-TLMC in enhancing student employment skills, understanding the framework, and application abilities in simulated environments. Data was collected from 64 students through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, and item-wise sentiment analysis. The findings indicate that Be-ISLAH-TLMC is effective in promoting key employment skills, particularly teamwork, decision-making, and lifelong learning. However, areas for improvement were identified, especially in terms of understanding specific components of the model and designing effective problem scenarios. This study highlights the Be-ISLAH-TLMC’s potential as a dynamic and adaptable framework for leadership development, offering significant promise for cultivating essential skills in various educational and organizational settings. Recommendations for improvement include incorporating digital tools, cultural customization, and greater emphasis on reflective practice and ethical leadership. Future research should focus on refining the model's application and exploring its adaptability across diverse cultural and technological contexts.
