The Role of Brunei Darussalam in Empowering Islamic Treasures in the Archipelago " Study of Malay Manuscripts at Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Treasury Hall (BKISHHB)”

Abstract

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has agreed to officiate the opening of the Sultan Haji Islamic Treasure Hall Hassanal Bolkiah (BKISHHB) on 12 Safar 1441 equivalent to 12 October 2019 during the Inauguration Ceremony of the Knowledge Council 2019 in conjunction with the 73rd Birthday Celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. BKISHHB is a hall that stores the treasures of Islamic heritage in the personal collection of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The main role of BKISHHB is as an Islamic Knowledge Heritage Center that is able to revive the culture of knowledge through the provision and conduct of scientific activities. BKISHHB, is intended to be a Treasure Institution that collects, stores, preserves, conserves and displays the treasures of Islamic heritage scientifically. The center will also pioneer the potential for the implementation of research and study activities, including disseminating research knowledge through scientific, teaching, learning and writing. Among the activities that have been carried out are "Study of the Malay Turath Book (Manuscript) at the Brunei History Center, the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Treasury Center (BKISHHB) and the Brunei Islamic Library of the Government Mufti Department of Brunei Darussalam". This research and study uses the "Method Catalog" as the main method, and makes the philological approach "Method Philology" as an additional method. From the results of the study, the collection of Manuscript data from the History Center and the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Treasury Center (BKISHHB) was completed. A total of 47 Malay manuscripts regarding Ahli Sunnah Waljama’ah are stored at the PenBorneo Historical Center of Brunei Darussalam and 40 Malay Manuscripts in various disciplines of Islamic knowledge are stored at the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Treasury Hall (BKISHHB).
