P019 Paradigma Wasathiyah : Penghapusan Stigma Sosial Terhadap Penyandang Disabilitas
Abstract
Abstract
This article explores the wasathiyah paradigm as an effort to remove social stigma against persons with disabilities. People with disabilities are a social group that is often the target of marginalisation because since they are prejudiced, people with disabilities have received various stereotypes. Disability as an object of social stigma in Indonesia is a complex phenomenon that includes interactions between individual, social, cultural and structural factors. The main reason why people with disabilities face stigma is the lack of public understanding and awareness about disability. Concrete steps are needed to overcome this, such as implementing the wasathiyah paradigm, especially the principles of justice and tolerance. The method used in this research is qualitative research with a literature study research type. The literature research approach involves collecting and analysing data from various literature related to the wasathiyah paradigm as an effort to eliminate social stigma against people with disabilities. The results of this study show that the wasathiyah paradigm, particularly the principles of justice and tolerance, contributes greatly to efforts to eliminate social stigma against persons with disabilities. It begins with affirmative action as a manifestation of restorative justice until it develops into distributive justice. In addition, tolerance is the basic foundation of the inclusion method that guarantees equality and respect for differences inherent in diversity.
